Saturday started with Tropic Thunder which was hilarious- 4 stars. I did find parts of the movie offensive in the best kind of way, but that's because I'm a recovering child of the '80's. After all, it's nowhere near as offensive as Multiple Maniacs which was made in 1970. Have we really become this sensitive? Why don't people get that they're making fun of actors not simpletons? But the real question is, "When will we see a sequel?"
Early evening brought on work so it was a perfect time for a mindless movie-Mr. Woodcock. Wow, this movie is terrible. How could it be so bad? It stars Seann William Scott, co-stars Billy Bob Thornton, Susan Sarandon and Randy from My Name is Earl. Ah, that's how. I'm left with a, "the lighting was good during that scene with the..." taste in my mouth after watching this drivel. 2 stars for the motor-boating reference.
After returning from Sushi we decided to watch Life is Beautiful which I never got around to seeing until now. Sorry, but when a movie wins an Oscar I usually put it on the wait-10-years-and-see-if-anyone-still-thinks-it's-good list. Somehow a massive error in judgment caused this one to make the list. Dear Roberto Benigni, I'm sorry. The movie is gorgeous from start to finish. I was completely impressed by Benigni's performance, script and direction. Simply stunning and one not to be missed, especially if your knowledge of WWII movies is based on something directed by Steven Spielberg.
