This movie is a bit of a mixed bag. Jack Black is just annoying and Mos Def is almost-audible for the entire movie playing a mentally challenged lackey at a video store. However, Danny Glover does a fantastic job as the video store owner trying to respond to the demands of an increasingly DVD world. Glover leaves the store in the completely incompetent hands of Mos Def and mild humor ensues. The gimmick of Be Kind comes as Black and Def are forced to remake classic films such as Ghostbusters and Driving Miss Daisy with a basic home movie camera and some friends. This is really the fun of the movie and very enjoyable to watch their creative solutions to special effects. Unfortunately it's not the majority of the movie. Instead you're treated to an entire cast that seems...well, slow. Yes, like slow and special. It's very strange. Eternal Sunshine, this is not.
