I'd never been able to watch this movie all the way through until recently. This movie is fantastic. On the surface it's a small glimpse into prison life in the 1950/60's South. Paul Newman's performance of a depressed war hero trying to reject the constraints placed on everyday life is brilliant. Yes, it's an "old movie" but it stands the test of time and is worth a watch/re-watch.
